Jewish Apple Cake Makes Winner’s List

Your family and friends will beg for more of this Jewish apple cake. Your search for the most delicious Jewish apple cake is over – DON’T PASS THIS ONE UP! Being a parent to 12 children, I make every effort to find delicious recipes that are simple and quick. Preparation and baking time is kept to a minimum here.


Another great preparation aspect of this recipe is that it avoids the hassles of using a Bundt pan. Any baking dish that is close to the stated size will do fine. We trust this Jewish apple cake recipe will become a new family favorite – ENJOY.




1/2 cup sweet cream
3 tbsp. sugar
4 egg yolks
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup sliced almonds
8 apples, peeled and sliced by hand or food processor


Butter Dough Ingredients/Instructions:


3 cups flour
1 lb. butter
2 eggs beaten
pinch of salt


Here are the simple preparation directions for this delicious Jewish apple cake.


Mix flour and salt with 1/2 lb. of butter, cutting in butter using a pastry blender or large fork. Add beaten eggs and work dough until smooth consistency. Roll out dough on a lightly floured board and spread 1/4 lb. softened butter over half the dough. Fold the other half over, and top with the remaining butter. Fold dough over and roll flat, repeating rolling and folding process a total of 3 times.

Spread butter dough (see above) in a 10×14 inch pan, pressing dough partially up the sides. Mix egg yolks, sweet cream, sugar and cinnamon. Spread this mixture evenly over the butter dough. Arrange a layer of apples in rows on top. Sprinkle lightly with almonds. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes, or until browned. Serves 12.
