Here are the ingredients needed to make these wonderful ham and pickle roll ups. As you can see, ther are only a few choice ingredients needed. Remember to make more than you first would anticipate as they are sure to be a big hit and will disappear fast.


1 Package of Ham Lunch Meat
1 (8 ounce) container of Cream Cheese (softened)
1 Jar of Whole Dill Pickles

Here are the easy steps to preparing these fantastic ham and pickle roll ups.

Step 1: Lay out a piece of ham lunch meat so that it is lying flat.

Step 2: Spread a layer of softened cream cheese on the sliced ham.

Step 3: Take the pickle and roll it up in the ham.

Step 4: Repeat Step number 3 until all of the pickles are rolled up. Place them in the refrigerator until the cream cheese hardens. This may take a couple of hours.

Step 5: Slice ham and pickle roll ups into ½ inch slices. After they are cut into slices, you may also want to insert a toothpick. This will both enhance the presentation of your hors d’oeuvres and make them easier to pick up.

A lot of recipes will recommend that you use shaved ham. I have tried using the shaved ham, but I found that when I tried to spread the cream cheese on it, the ham broke apart. This destroyed the whole appearance of the ham and pickle roll ups. I recommend using a thicker sliced ham lunch meat from your deli isle or having the deli clerk specially cut your ham.

The great thing about this recipe is that you can experiment with different lunch meats and flavors of cream cheese. A nice alternative to this traditional ham and pickle roll up is to use a chive flavored cream cheese with turkey lunch meat.
